Orchid Boy, A Plant Superhero

We met up with our daughter this morning, for coffee at Monks Cross near York and then, after a wander around some of the (few remaining) shops, we went for lunch to a nearby garden centre. I had a rather wonderful (unhealthy) steak and ale pie with chips, fresh veg and lashings of gravy :-)

Shopping is just a spectator sport for me so I just watched as the others hunted around the house plant jungle. I spotted this rather wonderful flower…turns out it is some sort of orchid, and Mrs madwill bought one.

The fields all about are very wet and the Wharfe and the Ouse rivers (both of which we passed over on the way to York) have burst their banks and flooded an incredible amount of land all around.
