The Edge of the Wold

Gus has always had separation anxiety, he wants to be as close as possible to his people.  Here, C was out for an hour and he was keeping a close eye on me from the hall window when I was in the garden.  Since his illness in August last year, we try to keep him company as much of the time as possible.  There are occasions when we have to leave him for an hour or two, but not very often, and we are sure this has been a factor in keeping him going.  He's almost completely deaf now, his sight is a bit blurred by cataracts, his hips are arthritic and his kidney function is poor - yet, he does seem happy and contented.  And if that means we have to stay close to home to keep him company, then that's a price worth paying for his continued companionship.

After a rainy start, it turned into another good day.  In the late afternoon I did a circuit of the Knott, and poor Gus was keen to come.  We wouldn't have got far together, so he had to  stay behind with his favourite human.
