Muntjac Tongue

I had a nice walk with my daughter and our dogs to the lake near where she lives. It was nice to see the waterfowl and the black-headed gulls which always perch on the railings. Unfortunately my shots were rubbish as I'd accidentally put my settings out.

I took Ollie dog for a walk at Fishers Green after lunch. We spent some time watching the herons on and near their nests. This muntjac deer is about to trot away from us. It seems to be enjoying licking its lips. These deer have particularly long tongues. They can lick the scent glands near their eyes and spread the scent by licking it onto the undergrowth as well as by rubbing their heads against it.
