From royal palace to gaol

Guildford Castle has a long history, having come into being soon after the Norman Conquest. In the Middle Ages it was a royal residence grand enough to be called a palace, then in its declining years it was used as a gaol. In recent years Guildford Borough Council have renovated it and maintain beautiful gardens in the former moat. It is a popular place for a stroll.

There were just a few people about today. It was dull and misty with little colour, so the tones are muted in my blip.
