Fountain Clock, Heckmondwike

WEDNESDAY

A bright and sunny start to the day and a 25 mile round trip to Heckmondwike for a 09:00 am podiatry appointment.

I went to school in Heckmondwike many decades ago and still go back there for dental and podiatry appointments.

The Fountain Clock is a listed structure standing in the Market Place. Erected in 1863 by voluntary subscription, it commemorates the marriage of the Prince of Wales to Princess Alexandra of Denmark (on 10 March 1863). It was originally a drinking fountain with a clock on top.

The weather took a turn for the worse during a short walk later in the day with wind and rain and the edge of Storm Gladys.
