Budding

Took the train to Stratford today for a few days off in the country. Was really struck by how brown and bare and wintry everything looked as we trundled our way through the Chilterns. Spring is so late this year. However I am heartened by the buds on the Lilac in the Shottery garden and the first signs of yellow on the Forsythia. If the sunshine appears as promised at the weekend maybe there will be a mass sproutage. Fingers crossed.
