Edinburgh's Disgrace

A beautiful day, with clear blue skies and some welcome warmth to the sun.

Took a trip across to Edinburgh with Katie and the kids, heading up Carlton Hill to enjoy the utterly spectacular 360° panorama.

In addition to the views there are a number of monuments and magnificent buildings up the hill, among them "Edinburgh's Disgrace". Envisioned as a national monument to the fallen of the Napoleonic Wars and to be modelled on the Parthenon in the Athens Acropolis, building began in the 1820's and was never completed due to lack of funds. Despite its unfinished nature and rather derogatory title,  I think it still makes a fine addition to the Edinburgh skyline.
