A bridge Indiana Jones would be proud of.

Been a couple of lovely days in the garden. Yesterday we did tidying up of twigs and debris from the recent storms, planting of various things in pots, raked the lawn. Today I mowed the lawn, planted the Ceanothus plant and did a few other bits and pieces including cutting off the top part of the Hawthorn trunk. This last bit is a job that has been ongoing for a while, it's been pretty tough, lots and lots of energy and elbow grease used in the process. Because of the thickness it got very difficult when I was in the centre area with the saw. Brainwave - "Thinks" (as Bluebottle might say) "I could use the cold chisel as a wedge to lift the cut up a little". It worked well and enabled me to carry on without the saw getting stuck all the time.
The bamboo ladder became a bridge instead and Marlane had bought little fairy play park things, and the fencing. We must keep H&S in mind, don't want any fairies falling over the edge of the tree stump.
The blackbird photos were taken at different times. First of all I was out cutting the tree when the young blackbird came to the bird bath. He/she was there for a while, taking a drink and watching curiously what I was doing. When Marlane came out to help with the bridge and fence the other blackbird came, I'm sure it was a different one. It was a lovely time with them, and proved that the trust shown a few days ago wasn't a fluke.
