For Catherine

Today many gathered to say their farewells to Catherine who had struggled with a serious lung disease for a couple of years.

She loved reading, and anything she could make with wool and needles and bits of material. She knitted wonderful nativity scenes and sewed the most beautiful quilts and wall hangings.
Along with my sister and two other friends the four embroidered the Paisley Peacock which I think is one of the most striking panels in The Great Tapestry of Scotland (currently on display in its new home in Galashiels)

Catherine also loved her garden and was very fond of her dwarf irises which she had planted round the base of her cherry tree. I stopped on my way to the service to take a quick pic.
