Tales from the Grave

It rained all day again so we were glad to go to the lecture at Torquay Museum this morning. The subject was Tales from the Grave, stories from Teignmouth Old Cemetery. The speaker, Neil Howell, Chair of the Friends, explained how they were restoring the cemetery, making it an attractive green space again, and  researching the lives of the inhabitants, and their interesting connections. Leah Laforgue, for instance, whose headstone they discovered,  was married to Jules Laforgue, a French poet, credited with being the father of modern verse, and a major influence on T.S.Eliot. See the link below
