Here and Now

Fat Tuesday

Paczki (Polish donuts) seem to be everywhere but in my kitchen.

The photo shows Protection BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, the nearest of 12 Ukranian Byzantine Catholic churches in the Cleveland area. The photo isn't great because it's a very dreary day.  (Theotokus is the BVM). This is a small church compared to the older elaborate ones and the cathedrals on the west side of Cleveland.

I've seen various numbers of between 20,000 and 35,000 Ukrainians living here, with the first group arriving in 1880.   We expect several refugees to arrive in the coming months.  Since parcels would take so long to reach Ukraine, monetary contributions are recommended to provide aid as quickly as possible.

Today's blip is about what is on my mind, rather than the picture.
