The Bee's Knees

I spent my lunch break on the terrace, in the sunshine. In the living room, I had put a pot with hyacinths, which P took outside to blip them against the blue sky. It didn't take more than 30 seconds, and the first honeybee had found the flowers. 10 minutes later, the hyacinth was abuzz with bees.

The one in the middle of the picture has already filled its pollen baskets well, the left one has probably just started collecting. These clever structures sit on the bees' hind legs. I rather like their German name "Pollenhöschen", which means "pollen pants".
