Birthday Tea

It's M's birthday today and being just a month after mine we received a 'joint' present of afternoon tea from one of our friends.  As you can see we went to Morston Hall and sat in their lovely conservatory.  This warm scotch egg (sitting on a chutney base) was our first course.  There were numerous finger sandwiches with delicious fillings, followed by two types of scones with jam and clotted cream.  Also a selection of sweet treats including a miniature lemon meringue pie, hazelnut and almond choux bun, English fruit cake and a pistachio macaron, they were all fab and came with a huge pot of tea and a couple of glasses of champagne for M.  It was an indulgent and relaxing couple of hours...fab!

Needles to say we shan't be cooking dinner tonight.
