The old chapel

Just behind yesterday's blip, on the slight rise towards the sea, is this ruined early-Christian chapel. It is thought to date at least from the time of St Columba, around 600 AD, but as was common, it probably has it origins on an earlier, pre-Christian site. The original roof was supposedly covered with heather, but this was lost many hundreds of years ago. The site was well chosen, because it has clear views both up and down the coast for dozens of miles in both directions.
