United for Eternity

This is the tomb of Sir Thomas Ardene, who died in 1391, and his wife Matilda.

Sir Thomas fought alongside Edward, the Black Prince at Crecy and Poitiers

Thomas and Matilda lie in Elford Church, Staffordshire, their effigies holding hands for all eternity.
