A Peaceful Scene

Despite the poor weather some friends and I went out for a drive which took us past three quite different lochs- Lomond, Long and Gareloch. Both Loch Lomond Shores and Luss were wet and miserable but by the time we got to Garelochead the rain had at least stopped.

We went for a walk along the shore and I was able to take this shot looking towards the head of the loch and across to the Rosneath peninsula. Just round the corner from this tranquil scene is the large naval base at Faslane surrounded by its high fence topped with barbed wire- not just so peaceful.

Later we passed the peace camp, a useful reminder of the passions of the 1980s which seem to have been rekindled this week.
