Today started with a really fun and companionable 8am birdsong safari along the Thicket Walk, a rural path that joins St Ives town with Houghton village. It’s usually a bit of a cyclist’s M6, however today the path was fairly quiet, unlike the racket in the trees! We heard goldfinch, robin, green and spotted woodpeckers, wren, chaffinch, blue and great tits, blackbirds and one song thrush. The nicest moments were when we stood still and just listened, letting the sounds fill our brains.

Our leader, Jade, is a new terrace neighbour, she’s an ecologist, a great communicator, and specialises in hyper-local engagement with the natural world. The group instantly connected with each other, it was just so wonderfully normal!

Then home for a much-needed warm up and breakfast with my pal Annie.

Wishing a very happy weekend to all, stay safe and stay sane x
