Auchencorth Moss

Yet another visit to Penicuik Town Hall, expecting to see the last part of the Talla Reservoir exhibition, except it was superseded by an exhibition on the climate of Penicuik relative to climate change. This was quite interesting but we did not intend to stay long. However, over coffee we were joined by other members of the Penicuik Community Development Trust Ltd (to which we had been persuaded to subscribe), who proved most interesting and knowledgeable so we ended staying well over an hour. We must visit the museum to fill out these details.

Our route to West Linton took us (by the pretty way) over Auchencorth Moss, from which are views of what we now know are the sighting towers used to align the conduit between Talla reservoir and Crawley cistern, thence on to the town. I blipped the more unusual one in 2018 when we were unsure of their purpose.

The market was in full swing, we met blipper nadinepierce, bought more fish, a lovely fresh loaf, some interesting cakes and a pot of daffodils.
That sums up a perfect market to me!

And the weather has been super, with a frosty start but blue sky and sunshine in clear air.
