Time for change

My Mum has been living independently in a villa in the grounds of her retirement village.  However, that is about to change.  Her sight has deteriorated significantly and the head consultant at the Eye Clinic believes it isn’t safe for her to live independently.  So Mum is moving into a Serviced Apartment in the main building where just about everything will be done for her.  Quite a relief.

Of course, the move entails culling quite a lot of stuff, which my sister and brother-in-law have been doing the bulk of, as they’re living temporarily with Mum because they’re between houses.

The first Christmas we were in New Zealand Mum and my Aunt came to stay with us in Napier.  We bought two pottery bowls from a local gallery, one for each of them as a reminder of their Hawke’s Bay Christmas and each one different.  Mum has been using her bowl daily since then, but doesn’t need it in her new apartment, so the bowl has come back to us and is my blip for today.

Community cases have again dropped, down from 18,833 yesterday to 15,161 today, and there are 618 people with Covid-19 in hospital, an increase on yesterday’s 597. Ten of these are in ICU, the same as yesterday.
