Paisley patterns

Another lovely day of sunshine and still air. It felt so peaceful but the events to the east made it impossible to relax fully.

After church I began to tidy up the greenhouse ahead of seed planting. More dusting. Then early evening we all headed off to Paisley Abbey to see the son-et-lumiere presentation- “about us”.

This was the last night before it moves to different venues in the UK. 13.8 million years condensed into 25 minutes of sound and light and images.

All very impressive. I’ve seen similar presentations at the Festival but this merited a couple of viewings at least. There was so much packed into the display with images changing every few seconds that it was only afterwards looking at the pictures that you could see the detail. Some examples in extras.

It depicted life from stardust at the start of the universe through the development of life, the dinosaurs, the creation of different species, to humankind’s domination of the world, with speech and technology, to the digital age and all that we have brought - good and bad - to the earth.

The core message - delivered with some humour - was that we are all related and made from stars (my paraphrase).

Well worth the trip through to the west.
