FIRST FLOWER BUD

I have always wanted to grow the native shrub,
SALVIA clevelendii (Blue Sage). It grows
en masse on the hillside nearby.

Recently I found a hybrid,
“Winifred Gilman”
(named after a volunteer propagator
at the San Francisco Botanical Garden)
that is smaller & more suitable for my needs.

I planted 2 in my back garden & bought 3 for the front. It has colorful
blue flowers, aromatic gray foliage, has low water requirements & can tolerate our brutal summer sun.

This TINY bud may be the first
“electric blue” flower getting ready to bloom. I am hoping the hummingbirds & pollinators will like these flowers.

I am very excited!
