Learning useful skills

The light was so bad I thought it's only okay to play with the image.
Quite a challenge for me, taking pictures of these busy kids in the curling hall's fluorescent light. I'm glad it was only curling and nothing more speedy. There will be two more chances for me to learn this. Any advice? I'm equipped with a 100mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.4 but even then, high iso's are a must.
