Earth shadow

Flying over Sweden I saw this very dark blue distinct horizontal band across the sky as the sun was rising.
Apparently it is an earth shadow that you can see just in the early stages of the rising sun when the atmosphere is really clear..maybe it was worth getting up at 4am for that!
