Five States in Less Than Nine Hours

First, let me say I am humbled with all the hearts, stars and kind comments on my anniversary blip. You folks hold a special place in my life and I sincerely appreciate each of you. Now for today; tried to give you a glimpse of our travels. We were up and on the road before 8:30. Traffic was very light and we saw no accidents. The weather was great and the sky was blue and full of fluffy clouds in places. The biggest surprise we had was seeing “Welcome to Kentucky”. Hubby decided we’d just follow our GPS and see which route it would take to get to the farm. The Kentucky mountains are so black compared to the ones we saw in Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia and Ohio. I guess it is partly exposed coal. We traveled to the top of the mountain ranges, in the valleys between, over rivers (one with a dam/locks), around lakes, along creeks, and beside swamps. We went through small towns, cities, on interstates and on hardly paved mountain roads adjacent to deep ravines and no shoulders. We saw very large and stately homes, trashy neighborhoods, well kept farms and regular working folks’ homes. We passed tiny chapels, country churches and huge churches from many denominations. We saw wild animals, farm animals, and poor dead animals. We sang with the radio and avoided the news - this was to be a carefree experience. We joked about the sights, agreed out TN visit had been one of the best, shared crackers and nuts to stay awake. And I even took a nap when the nuts wore off. The day reminded us of all the fun we had in 2016 when we went across the country. I’d say we made lasting memories today. We got to the farm before 5:30 pm, unloaded the car and enjoyed chicken pot pie and salad. Ahhh. The one constant in each state was gas is $4.09 per gallon, almost double what it was before. Sure hope your day was also filled with joy. Wish all people could find contentment in the little things and not hurt others for their own gain. Stay safe. “I want to go on a road trip. Just you and me. The highway, the radio, the blue sky, the back roads, and windows down. We’ll talk about everything and nothing. We’ll sing our hearts out, and we’ll make memories we’ll never forget. Just you and me” – UNKNOWN
