Love All You Love

I took a zoom class today in Beeswax Collage--a less toxic relative of encaustic. The melted wax, applied with a brush, acts as an adhesive, a sealant, and a textural unifier. We did our pieces on 6x6 canvases, using sewing patterns, tissue, text, drawings, and found images.  Very thin things work best. I'm comfortable with the collage part, but the wax is another story. It can get lumpy very fast, which is not the unifying effect I was hoping for. I'd try it again to see if I could do better, but right now I definitely prefer gel medium. I have a new respect for waxed pieces, that's for sure.

This all has a connection to Blip: the quote is from Kendall's friend Margie, and I thank them both for their inspiration.
