Iceland, group 2, day 2 - Perlan

Last night, we were warned at both the restaurant and the hotel about a severe storm planned for the next day. Well, today is the next day and they were absolutely right! We avoided the southwest because that's where the heaviest storm was expected. We came up with an alternative plan: we would go Reykjavik in the morning and then drive to the east to get to our next hotel, making a few photography stops along the way.

The first part of the plan worked, but the second not so much as it turned out every road to the east was closed because of the weather conditions, except for the roads that we wanted to avoid in the first place.

Fortunately our travel agent was able to book a hotel in Reykjavik for our entire group, so we at least have a place to stay. Some roads have already opened again; let's hope we can continue our journey tomorrow and make up for the time we lost today.

We used the time today by visiting Perlan, which is a great place to visit and learn a thing or two about Icelandic nature.
