A Waffly Big Adventure
My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,
So here's what happened.
Corrie is isolating at home because her nan has tested positive. This means extra housework for Corrie, as nan is confined to her room. So she told us in a group chat yesterday that she would be starting work late for the next week.
And because I am me and because I am nice I said, "Sure, no problem, take it easy and order UberEats waffles for breakfast."
Because Corrie likes waffles. I know this.
She made some non-committal reply so I threw in the offhand comment, "Don't make me come to your house with waffles, Corrie!"
To which she replied.
DON'T YOU DARE I KNOW YOU SYMON
I mean. What's a fellow to do with that? She DARED me.
Also the other members of the team sent me messages saying, "Do it do it do it."
So it is not like I had a choice.
I set up a Teams meeting entitled, "Operation Waffle" and kept everyone (except Corrie) informed in the meeting chat as to what was going on. I sent them pictures of me ordering the waffles, receiving the waffles (above) catching a taxi and buying a bottle of maple syrup.
I thought it was hilarious.
When I got to Corrie's house there was no answer at the door (it turns out she was having a shower) so I just left them in her porch and ran away. She told me later that her grandad had shouted about someone leaving UberEats on the doorstep.
"I knew right away it was you," she said.
I'm not sure whether to be affronted or pleased with myself.
I got back to work just after 9 and got stuck in. But I had meetings with Corrie and she looked VERY pleased with her waffles. She told us that Gran, Grandad and Siu (her partner) had consumed theirs in about ten minutes flat.
Of course, now the rest of the team wants waffles too. Oh well. You can't please everybody.
S.
