Great Northern Diver

A couple of hours on the beach that has built up over over 80 years along the Churchill Barrier #4 between the islands of Burray and South Ronaldsay. There was a more distant red-throated diver there too. This bird caught a flatfish, but it was further out at the time. A nice mixed flock of small waders held sanderlings, turnstones, ringed plover and one purple sandpiper (extra). Someone got their first  sandwich tern of the year nearby yesterday but I didn't see one.
