What struck my fancy

Block 790

Servicemen's accommodation at the former airforce base at Sculthorpe, Norfolk UK, in use from 1943 to 1992, shared by the USAF and RAF and a base for the nuclear deterrent of the time.

Part of the site is becoming a business park, the runways and adjacent grounds though are grazed by cattle which are removed when exercises are planned as the site still belongs to the Ministry of Defence with an agreement that the USAF can also use it. There was no activity today but I have seen Hercules C130s and the V22 Osprey practising here. The latter is a curious aircraft with propellors that tilt upwards to allow a vertical take-off if necessary.
