Track Light

This has been the most unpleasantly cold and wet day of the winter so far. Surveying in the depths of this forest offered little respite.
When working with a robotic total station the instrument will lose "lock" to the prism as the surveyor walks behind an obstacle like a large fallen tree. You must initiate a search to re-acquire lock. It will find the prism quicker if it is pointed in the general direction. To aid this manual pointing you can activate the track light, too far left, it flashes green, too far right it flashes red. This is not actually the intended use of the function but it works well enough. If the instrument was pointed at a precise stake out point than an assistant would be able to figure which direction to move to get on line. When that is achieved the light turns  white.

On the way home I had the car heater at max trying to warm up.
