Duke of Wellington statue

The iron statue of the 1st Duke of Wellington on horseback was sculpted by Italian artist Carlo Marochetti and erected in 1844.  It stands outside the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow..  He is traditionally topped with a traffic cone said to represent the irreverent humour of the local population.  Now it has been topped with a crocheted cover over a traffic cone resembling the colours of Ukraine's flag and topped with a bunch of sunflowers Ukraine's symbol of peace.
