Amandine's Plot Treize

More frogspawn (and newt spawn?)

This is an exciting time for the pond, with amphibians breeding season well and truly under way!

Today, I counted at least 8 clumps of frogspawn and, for the first year since I made the pond, I could see a chain of eggs which could be newt spawn - I'll have to keep an eye on it.

The mating can last anywhere between a few days to over a week.

It's so amazing to know I've created a place for amphibians to live, breed and just be. So many wet habitats in Oxford have been destroyed by greedy property developers. But here in East Ward Allotments these guys have a home!
