The old miller

I blipped the outside of an 11th century water mill in Loro Ciuffenna on 15th March. I had assumed that it was derelict. But I walked past it again today and the door was open. The old miller was grinding sweetcorn for polenta, using the river of melt water from the Apennines to turn the mill stones. I bought a kilo of polenta and a kilo of chestnut flour, and he consented to stand rather stiffly to have his photo taken :-)
