Water filtration

We had a stroll round the land reclaimed from the former Pemberton Colliery mine workings today.
This pond is the top level of the water pumped out of the mineworkings which is still very heavily contaminated by iron and other minerals, as shown by the very orange colour. By the time it has gone through three other filtration ponds and is released into the local water course, it is crystal clear again!
