Rock And Roll Dem Bones

On This Day In History
1952: The Moondog Coronation Ball is history's first rock concert

Quote Of The Day
"The fact that this many people would show up for an all-black rhythm and blues event, based solely on advertising on a late-night radio show, and tear the doors off an arena to get inside, made promoters and record labels say, "Wait a minute, something's happening here.""
(Terry Stewart, president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland)

"We're gonna get a load of money. Lots of money! Tons of money!"

OK. First up, confession time. Some of these photos were taken yesterday and some were taken from the museum guidebook I purchased yesterday from the only museum in the world devoted to the human skull, the Skull Museum in Amagasaki. Utterly fascinating, and utterly Japanese in its eccentricity. My favourite exhibits were the crystal skull found in a Maya temple. Originally believed to be thousands of years old, cut from a single crystal long before the tools for doing so were invented in the late 19th century, and believed to possess mysterious healing qualities, many experts now say they have discovered evidence that all twelve similar crystal skulls that have been discovered are actually forgeries that were created after the crystal cutting tools were invented. Well boo to the "experts," I say; how dare you try to take our fun! The Mayans made these skulls 2,000 years ago, utilising techniques gifted to them by the aliens that shaped early human development and subsequently transported the Mayan people back to their home planet.

The other skull that I found most fascinating was the first skull that the owner of the museum, Keiji Kawamoto MD PhD, purchased. It is a human skull from Tibet, decorated with metal and fitted with glass eyes. What makes it particularly interesting is that, after Kawamoto-san bought the skull back to Japan, a series of tragic events befell his family, and these things continued until he took the skull to a Buddhist priest to have it purified.

So, Rock and Roll and bones. Well, it doesn't get much better than THIS!! "B-b-b-b-b-bad!!!" Speaking of which, another alien with super human talent who returned home, along with Elvis.
