The birth of a hedge

What a glorious day it has been. Sunshine and blue sky from east to west and north to south, along with a breeze just to remind us that we mustn’t be too complacent with the weather yet. N, Bertie and I spent the morning at the community orchard, along with several other volunteers. I helped to plant some of the 400 “whips” we have received from the Woodland Trust and RSPB. Hopefully, these will grow into a thick hedge that will provide food in the form of nuts and fruit for wildlife and humans, as well as shelter for our fruit trees.
I’m now watching a beautiful orange moon rising over the hill. It has shrunk slightly from the full moon of a couple of days ago and is now in the waning gibbous phase but still very bright.
