Eye to Eye Walk

We've had a grand day out doing the  fundraising Eye to Eye Walk in aid of  Moorfields Eye Charity. We walked a fifteen mile circular route from Moorfields Hospital in City Road taking in Brick Lane, St Paul's cathedral, Millennium Bridge,  Borough Market,  Tower Bridge, St Katherine's Dock, Wapping, and Limehouse Basin,  returning along the Regents Canal  tow path, via Victoria Park. 
There were about 360 people walking today;about half doing the 15mile walk and the rest doing a 5 mile circuit. Martin  and I walked with two of my old friends who trained with me at City University, London, over forty years ago. Some  of the areas  we walked through were familiar to us from our student days,  but they have been smartened up considerably, and many new developments have been added since then.
My blip is of a new  sculpture called" Opening the  Lockgate" created by Ian Rank - Broadley  to celebrate the 200 year old heritage of the  Regent's Canal. It is at  250 City Road, and commemorates  the lives of the people who have worked on the  canal contributing to the prosperity  London.   opening the lockgate

The others  show Containerville, a residential development on the canalside, made from shipping containers, the view from Wapping towards Tower Bridge and the Shard, and reflections on the water at St Katherine's  Dock.
