Blackthorn Blossom ……

…… growing very close to the waters of the White Cart in Pollok Park. Farmers often use Blackthorn as hedging ….. the thorns on the branches are many and they are very sharp so they easily deter cattle from crossing boundaries.

So much activity in the park as the work continues to prepare for the reopening of the Burrell Collection on March 29th after a 6 year refurbishment costing £68 million. Walking through the park this morning I spotted two park employees renewing part of the old footbridge ….. can’t say I noticed anything wrong with the old one but I suppose the anti slip chicken wire looked the worse for wear.
