Sapling

When one of our big trees finally topples, we take the opportunity to plant young trees in the new patch of light. This beech fell 3 years ago and the whip has just popped out of its 4 foot tube (i.e. taller than the muntjac). I think it might be a Small-Leaved Lime. We plant a mixture of native trees that are less likely to be attacked by squirrels (Beech) or diseases (Oak, Chestnut, Ash, etc.), so at the moment we are planting a mixture of Lime, Whitebeam and Cherry.
