Bryozoans

I  found two treasures on the shoreline this morning.  The first was hornwrack which looks like seaweed but is actually a colony of animals called bryozoans that are just large enough to be seen with the naked eye.  The name comes from two Greek words, bryon (moss) and zoon (animal).  Unlike seaweed hornwrack is very soft and material-like to touch.
