American Robin

I am enjoying all of the Robins (Turdus migratorius) in the yard lately. They are taking advantage of the soggy ground by feasting on all of the earthworms they can find in the grass. The resident killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) have just returned, but they are very skittish, and difficult to photograph. Killdeer nest on the ground, so we must be careful not to disturb the eggs before they hatch. They will give us their fake broken-wing routine if we get too close to the young.
