Fallas (Again)

We're not sure who won but apparently this vast tableau was a firm favourite - heaven only knows how that square's going to hold up when the whole thing goes up in flame on Saturday night. We spent much of the day touring these things, dodging marching bands and experiencing the afternoon carnage in the main square all over again. As we made our way to the railway station in the early evening crowds were thronging the streets, marching bands and processions in traditional garb were staging seemingly random parades without any reference to the traffic, kids were setting off firecrackers everywhere and a general air of carnival chaos reigned - it felt like we might be getting out just in time...
