Life of a bubble maker

Almost there

Day started out with a nice breakfast and then we entered the departure area for BA and into hell. We got there 2.5 hours before our flight and then spent the next 90 minutes in a queue to drop our bags off that didn’t seem to move. There were too few check-ins’ open to the point that they were calling out flights that were departing in 45 minutes to make sure the people still in the queue got to the front so they didn’t miss their flight. This caused more issues with everyone else that had been waiting in the queue as they jumped to the front. With just over an hour to go we got fed up of waiting so when they called a time 15 minutes before out flight we said yes and jumped to the front, the people checking the bags didn’t care. How difficult can it be BA when you know how long it takes on average to check in a passenger and you know how many you have to process then surely its simple maths to figure out how many people you need. As it took so long we had 30 minutes in the lounge to calm down before we were called. A cynical person, like myself, might thing its cost cutting on staff at the gate to reduce the amount of time you have in the lounge. Got our seats at the back of the plane and settled in for the 8.5 hour flight. Meal was smaller than normal with only half a sandwich as the second meal and they ran out of beer and gin half way through, Covid cost cutting obviously. Next time there is a choice it won’t be BA. Arrived and got through Covid testing and immigration with no issues, just a bit of a wait. J had arranged a private transfer, which was about an hour to the hotel. Seems like a nice place so far as we arrived in the dark so can’t tell. Dinner of ribs and a walk around before going to bed.
