London

I’ve been planning hubby’s 60th birthday for a little while.
We have both missed days out in London since we moved away over four years ago.
So that’s where we went.

After a lovely weekend with all our little family, it was just me and him today.
Arrived at Victoria Station and headed off to a Bill’s restaurant for an early-ish yummy lunch. Then we wandered slowly down towards Westminster where we saw the Elizabeth Tower which houses Big Ben looking great after its recent restoration work.
We noticed one of the clock faces was showing the wrong time. Wonder if it caught anyone out!

Noticed a poignant tribute to the police officer who was murdered 5 years ago to the day during a terrorist attack on Westminster.

We crossed Westminster Bridge and over to County Hall the former home of the GLC and which is now home to several tourist attractions as well as a hotel (where we had a room booked) and several restaurants.

After a stroll along the South Bank, and coffees at a couple of riverside cafes, we checked into the hotel and had dinner in a nearby restaurant.

The council chamber at County Hall is currently being used as the venue for the Agatha Christie play Witness For The Prosecution. We had tickets for the evening performance. It was great. Perfect location - it felt like we were in a courtroom.

We had such a lovely day made perfect by the great weather.
London looked so good in the sunshine!
A few extras added including some of the London Eye and the Palace of Westminster at night.
