Friends

Today we travelled through to Queensferry to have lunch with John, our good friend.  His wife Sandra is now in a care home, and his life has been turned upside down.  We had told him just to let us know when he was ready, and today was the day, and we had a lovely, if poignant, time with him.  It was strange to be without Sandra.  We have know them since our Canada days, good friends along with Brian, who lost his wife a few years ago.

We didn't dwell on the sad things but tried to take a positive attitude, which I think was good for John.  Next time we see him we will go with him to the care home and visit Sandra.  He seemed very keen for us to do this, as so many people have said they would not go as they wanted to remember her as she had been.  But John and Sandra need some support and even if she is not able to talk to us, it will be good for her to see some other people and for John too.

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, I feel quite emotional about it all.  This was the only picture taken today.  The Fish and Chips were huge!!!!
