The Shepherd’s Church at Didling

Our walk today took us on a six mile amble at the foot of the South Downs from Elsted. It included the ruins of the church of St Mary at Treyford, its 19th century replacement which only lasted 100 years before being demolished as unsafe, and the beautiful 13th century Church of St Andrew, known as the Shepherds’ Church.
All topped off with a drink in the best pub garden in Sussex at the Three Horseshoes.
Extra: there’s a green space where the church at Treyford used to stand, but the churchyard is a very tranquil place to take a breather
