Trafalgar Square: 13th April 2013

This action had been called several years ago by Class War (Google them), who put the call out that a gathering would be held at 6pm on the first Saturday following the death of Margaret Thatcher.

I felt proud to be amongst the crowd of what, to me, felt like about 2,000 people in Trafalgar Square this evening to mark the passing of Margaret Thatcher. Not a bad turnout for a very wet evening.

The biggest cheers were for the representatives of the National Union of Mineworkers (NE Region) and their beautiful banner. This gent was one of them.

I wasn't celebrating. I was remembering.

And as the writing on one of the placards that someone had brought along: 'Sod Thatcher. Let's kill Thatcherism'.

Full set of photos from my Facebook page are here.

There are also several videos on Youtube. Go to Youtube and enter Trafalgar Square April 2013. One of them includes an interview by one of the gents carrying the miners banner.
