Kinkhoast Well

I managed out on my bike today on some of the tracks around Comrie.

Kinkhoast is the old Scots word for whooping cough. On the old drove road between Comrie and St Fillans is the Kinkhoast Well. It’s believed that if a child has whooping cough they could be cured by drinking water from this well. There’s also a tankard provided.

I actually saw a few cases of whooping cough when still working. All cases in unvaccinated babies. It’s a scary condition.
