Butterfly Effect

I had day off and took part in water exercise group in Varala for the first time in ages. I also I visited photographer Terhi Asumaniemi's exhibition Cabinet of curiosities in the Art Gallery Saskia. In the picture is a detail of her large work called Butterfly Effect. In the installation there is photographs taken at Finnish boglands, and those photos have been cut to a shape of Boloria frigga (Frigga fritillary) butterfly.  It is a rare species for which risk of extirpation is potentially high.

Boloria frigga inhabits bogs and related habitats, often with trees (birch, pine) or in open woodlands. It has an Holarctic distribution. It is restricted to the North, but can be found more southerly than strictly Arctic species.

-2°C, mostly cloudy
