Abstract Thursday: "For Robert"

This Thursday, we've been asked to address the question: "What inspires you in Abstract Photography?"

For me, a big part of the appeal is the challenge of making the natural appear...unnatural! This shot shows some daffodils beside a sprawling laburnum photographed, during a heavy shower of snow, through a window with old and imperfect glass, with the focus brought forward from the main subjects. (Taking this sort of approach, I guess there's a thin line between "impressionistic" and "abstract" - which this one has hopefully just about pushed through! :D)

This week, Abstract Thursday is dedicated to Robert Ostrochovsky (Youoregon1), who founded the challenge back in 2015 and has been a hugely supportive and encouraging friend to many of us over the years. Robert is currently dealing with a serious health issue. You're in our thoughts, Robert, and we wish you all the very best.
